Since the beginning, trees have furnished us with two of life’s essentials, foods and oxygen. As we evolved, they provided additional necessities such as shelter, medicine and tools. Today, their value continues to increase and more benefit of trees are being discovered as their role expands to satisfy the needs created by our modern lifestyle.
Trees are crucial to our life. The different parts of trees, such as roots, leaves, flowers, fruits ,seeds are also food for man and other herbivores. Trees are home to birds as also to animals. Trees maintain balance in our ecosystems. By cutting trees we destroy our environment. So, it is very important to save trees. Planting trees help in increasing the green cover of the earth and improve the environment.
The national Tree Plantation Day or the national Festival of Trees Planting, also known as “Van Mahotsav” in India , is held from 1st July to 7th July every year. On the that day , in every schools, colleges, and offices, tree plantation can be noticed.
Tree plantation is an important activity to make an environment greener and cleaner. We must plant trees in every season (except in high temperature level of summer) and take care of it. We must choose the right exotic trees, the purpose of environment protection may be defeated. We must try to plant native and local trees of the place. We must try to plant trees that have medical uses. Similarly, we can plant trees based on the season of blooming and the colours of their blossoms so that their appearance in avenues is pleasing to the eye. We can also plant trees in the neighbourhood of where we live. We must care of the trees we plant. Trees are important for the earth and its environment, and for all life forms.
There are many environmental benefits of planting trees. Strategically planting trees around your home can have tremendous benefits on the environment. Not only will you help fight climate change, but you will also set an example.
